I first met Fred when I joined the Zen Buddhist Temple in Toronto in 1997. We used to share a subway ride together from Vaughan and St. Clair out to the Junction. In 2002 I sought his advice as a therapist, and later as I realized how much wisdom and experience he had to offer, I decided to do a graphic novel about him. As principal of a small private school I referred a student to him, and during COVID we started chatting on Zoom weekly, and later grabbing coffee when he was in Toronto. Fred was a mentor, dear friend and teacher. He gave my wife Quyen massage treatments for her back at our home and my daughter Iris loved him (she's five years old.) Nothing will ever replace Fred, but I feel his presence with me and look forward to meeting everyone and seeing how he was part of their lives, too.

Fred in his therapy office - I was interviewing him for a mini-project about Great Healers. It later became a graphic novel which I completed.

My condolences to Fred's family. I first met Fred after I got involved with the mother of his children, Riesah Prock.
That had the potential to be a little awkward, but it never was. Fred and I got along very well, and the 3 of us hung out together.
I would also have the occasional chat on the phone with him. I found Fred to a loving, intelligent and compassionate man, and I see those qualities in his children.
I will miss him...
