Frederick Nelson, 70 , of Amsterdam, NY, passed away on January 1, 2021.

Fred was born on February 17, 1950 in Westwood, NJ. He grew up in Westwood and proudly served his country in the US Navy. In 1978, he wed Deborah Jean Kimm. He became a father to Timothy and Cindy Martin, and later James and Patrick Nelson.

Fred was also a passionate fisherman and loved poker, and could often be found on the lake or at a poker table when he wasn’t at home.

Anyone who knew Fred knew that he was a loving father and husband. Fred is survived by his sons Timothy Martin and his wife Iris; James Nelson and his wife Kristen; Patrick Nelson and his wife Angela; his daughter, Cindy Valeri and her husband Daniel; his sister in law, Judith Ramagli and her husband Steven and their children Lindsay and Nicholas; his cousin, Jane Marshall and her husband Richard and their children John Paul and Ricky and Joanne Bisconti; his grandchildren, Nico and Dominic Valeri; Mya and Noa Martin; Henrik, Arlo, and Thatcher Nelson. He was predeceased by his wife Debbie Nelson, brother John Nelson, and mother Irene Nelson.
