Frederick's obituary

Frederick John Geiger, 79, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2023, at the Reading Hospital.

Born in Aurora, IL, he was the son of the late Leonard Francis and Juanita Mary (Donkle) Geiger. Frederick was a proud graduate of the United States Naval Academy in 1967 in nuclear engineering. He worked for almost 30 years with Commonwealth Edison as an operating engineer and developer of databases.

In retirement he returned to West Reading and built databases for Gaspari Mushrooms, volunteered for the hospital, and served the Borough of West Reading on the Wyomissing Joint Municipal Authority as a Board member for 13 years and Treasurer for 10 years. He held regard for higher education and obtained additional degrees in Computer Information Systems and an MS in Professional Management.

He was a lover of music, arts, film, history, dancing, and humor.

Frederick is survived by his daughter, Elise Charmaine Geiger of Chicago, IL, son, Ian Frederick Geiger and his wife Tracy Banks Geiger of Madison, WI, grandchildren: Sydney F. Geiger of Chicago, IL; Gwendolyn Geiger, Liam Geiger, and Rowan Geiger all of Madison, WI, and his twin brother Clayton Peter Geiger.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, December 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading.

Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation at 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
