Frederick DeWolfe Emory, aged 89, passed away peacefully at Waterford Residential on June 8th, 2024, in Roseville, California. Born on August 24th, 1934, in Seattle to the esteemed lawyer Frederick DeWolfe Emory and Marion Burton Emory, Frederick took immense pride in his Emory lineage, tracing his ancestry in America back to the mid-seventeenth century Eastern Shore of Maryland all the way to our founding father Benjamin Franklin.
A third-generation Seattleite, Frederick graduated from the University Of Washington with a major in Economics. Following his honorable discharge from the army, he moved to sunny California, marrying his beloved wife Geraldine Emory in Oakland in 1959. Less than a year later, they welcomed their first daughter, Robyn Elizabeth Emory, followed four years later by their second daughter Julie DeWolfe Emory. The family resided in Orinda, California.
Frederick DeWolfe Emory dedicated over 15 years to selling life insurance in Oakland with Penn Mutual. In the late '70s, he transitioned into real estate, purchasing and managing his own commercial properties including a bed and breakfast in Carmel, “The Sunset House.” His entrepreneurial spirit led him to San Francisco, where he excelled in selling commercial real estate for the broker Grubb & Ellis. Frederick retired to Roseville in 1997 at the age of 62, concluding a distinguished career marked by versatility and success.
As president and member of the board of directors at Sun City Roseville, Frederick was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation in both 2009 and 2011. He enjoyed many years of cycling with fellow members of the community and cherished his friends and family deeply. Frederick and his wife, Geraldine, spent their retirement years traveling and creating lasting memories together.
Frederick DeWolfe Emory is survived by his wife, Geraldine Gray Emory; his daughter, Robyn Stein, and her husband, Dave Stein; his granddaughter, Kate Emory Brandy, and her husband, Jordan Brandy; his great-grandson, Jackson Brandy; as well as three nieces and four nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Burton Emory and George Meade Emory, and his daughter, Julie Emory.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1950 Junction Blvd., Roseville, on Saturday, November 30th at 1:00 p.m. with a private inurnment following the service.
