Frederick's obituary
Frederick "Fred" Dunham, 84, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, in Garden Grove, California, the city where he was born and spent his life.
Born on June 2, 1941, in Garden Grove, Fred remained deeply rooted in his hometown throughout his years. He was known for his dry sense of humor that could bring a smile even in the most unexpected moments. A man of many passions, Fred found joy and freedom on the open water—he loved sailing and spent countless hours navigating the wind and waves. When not at sea, he could often be found trackside; he never missed a horse race and followed the sport with great enthusiasm.
Fred was also known as the king of the grill. Whether hosting family gatherings or casual backyard cookouts, he brought people together with perfectly grilled meals and warm camaraderie. His culinary skills were matched only by his quiet wit and steady presence.
Faith played a central role in Fred’s life. He always maintained a close relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, drawing strength and guidance from that connection throughout his journey.
Fred is remembered with love by Edward Dunham, Jacob Dunham, Lincoln Dunham, Gwendolyn Frazier, Lynda Chadek, Jennifer Chadek, and Andrea Chadek. His legacy lives on in those who knew him best.
As we reflect on Fred’s life, a life filled with laughter, devotion, and simple joys—we are reminded of one of his favorite sayings: “The best is yet to come.” May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, July 20th 2025 in Newport Beach, California.
