I was so lucky to know Freddy. First as a friend of my parents. Over the years, part of the 96 Woodstock crew, so many camping and paintball trips, he helped move me from one place or another at college in Boston with my Dad, he stood with my brother when he was confirmed. On 9/11, Freddy waited with my Mom for my Dad, Missy, and me to arrive back to NJ.

Freddy was the one you called when you had an impulse to do something most would consider to be crazy or inconvenient, he was always up for an adventure or late night chats on the deck. When Freddy was going through major surgery a few years ago, I had been going through similar. We supported each other and talked so much about the dark and the bright, but ultimately those we are so happy to have in our lives.  He had just met Suzanne. As he got stronger I got to see him with her. Freddy was one of the brightest lights I will ever know, and I’d never seen him shine brighter.

I enjoyed celebrating his wedding just before we moved to Pittsburgh, and chatting with him as he was gearing up to move to Arizona and then Florida. So many past parties, holidays and joyous occasions. Today, the saddest, the most surreal, a funeral, virtually.

Freddy, it hurts so much that you’re not here anymore. It hurts that we lost you to Covid. It has been a rough few months without you in the world, but I am so glad to have known you.
