Freda's obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Freda Fincher, who departed from this life on December 9, 2023. Born in 1932, Freda dedicated all the years of her life to the service of her loved ones and a profound faith in God.

Freda will be deeply missed by her beloved sons David and John Fincher, daughter Marykay Selby, and her favorite (and only) son-in-law, Derek Wesley Selby, as well as her dear sister Gail Anderson, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Lon, and daughter Susan as well as beloved siblings Bill DePriest and Janet Preble.

Throughout her time with us, Freda was known for her strength, trustworthiness, and lighthearted sense of fun. She was a devout and unwavering figure within her family and church community, known by many for determined abilities and her love of gardening, flowers and reading.

In her wisdom, Freda often remarked, "If you're having a hard time in life, look for someone else to help." This spirit of compassion was reflected in all she did and stood as one of her greatest lessons imparted to those around her.

Freda's greatest accomplishment was the loving family she nurtured and cared for. She took great joy in praying for the wellbeing of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A true testament to her faith, Freda remained faithful to God and her family till her last breath. This legacy will be cherished and honored by her family and all who knew her.

Her grandkids and great-grandkids will fondly remember the countless hours spent playing skip-bo and dominos with her. Their memories of these cherished moments will bring comfort and serve as a reminder of the warmth and joy Freda brought into their lives.

A memorial service to celebrate the life and legacy of Freda Fincher will be held on March 16, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Hampton Inn Cleveland. We join together in remembrance and to pay homage to a life lived to its fullest and devoted to those Freda loved most.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to www.compassion.com, an organization committed to relieving hunger and poverty for children. Freda has supported this organization for many years.
