Very sorry to hear that Fred has passed away. I worked with Fred years ago at Heart of America NW and for a while at Peace Action. Fred and I climbed Glacier peak together (he was in the lead) and went on other hikes together. I enjoyed our political talks and Fred's many amazing stories. On Glacier peak I carried an ice axe and Fred just used a stick he found on the way up. A group with a professional guide came by and their guide told Fred, "Generally people use an ice axe up here." Fred replied, "That's okay, I'm not a general!" I always think of Fred as strong, independent, with a strong ethical center that guided his life. He could have been many things in life and chose to serve a higher cause (he would laugh at that high faluttin' language!) If Erin is reading this I am sorry to hear you've lost your Dad. Best wishes to you and your family. Chris Jordan

Rest in Peace, Fred. We enjoyed knowing and protesting along with Fred, a unique human being.
