Fred's obituary
In Loving Memory of Fred Eugene Hamilton Jr.
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Fred Eugene Hamilton Jr. on December 2, 2025. Fred was a warm, humorous, and compassionate man whose love for life touched everyone who knew him. He was a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Fred had a special gift for bringing people together. He loved music, dancing, sharing jokes, and turning everyday moments into cherished memories. Family cookouts—complete with fireworks, good food, and plenty of laughter—were among his greatest joys. Most dear to his heart was time spent with his grandchildren, who adored Papa Fred’s stories, jokes, and silly dance moves.
A dedicated sports fan, Fred proudly cheered for the University of Michigan, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, and Jeff Gordon. The University of Michigan held an especially meaningful place in his heart—not only as a favorite team, but as the place where he bravely fought much of his battle with cancer. Even then, Fred managed to crack jokes with nurses and lift the spirits of everyone around him, proving that humor was one of his greatest strengths.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Fred Eugene Hamilton Sr., and his grandparents, Ray and Opal Huneycutt. He is survived by his parents, Sandra and David Berry; his siblings, Bobby Hamilton Sr. and Julie Ramsey (Alan Landers); his children, Tyler Hamilton (Samantha Hamilton) and Kristen Hamilton (Kaleb Lewis); and his beloved grandchildren, Isaiah and Harrison.
Fred’s laughter, kindness, and love of music will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed.
May he rest in peace—and may heaven be ready for the punchlines and the dance moves.
A Celebration of Life will be held for close family and friends on Saturday, December 13th, at the American Legion in Bangor, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
