I got to know Fred while living at Springridge. Got to be a good friend. Had many dinners him. Really enjoyed our visits. We were fellow Navy men. He will be greatly missed.
I will miss Uncle Fred’s Christmas letter, but was always delighted about how much he loved to hear my reply. I wish I could have told him that I’m going to be a grandmother this year, it would have made him very happy!
With 3000+ miles between us, I didn't have much of a relationship with Fred as a kid. It wasn't until Pop passed in 2008 that I made a habit of calling him and catching him up on the on-goings. But a few years after Dad died, Fred suggested I reach out to my half siblings Tom and Laurette. That was about 15 years ago, and the three of us are quite close now. I'll forever be grateful to Fred for that, and I will miss him dearly. Warm condolences to you all.
My earliest memories are getting a ride in my handsome bachelor uncle's convertible…and being incensed that I was demoted to the back seat with the arrival of Aunt Vicky. I was glued to them both and probably made quite a pest of myself at their wedding. Unable to get rid of me, they convinced me to hide behind the bride's gown in the pictures. Later I discovered California by spending an unforgettable 16th summer with Susan, Vince, Aunt Vicky and Uncle Fred. (Sue - thanks for sharing your bedroom). I feel thankful I was able to visit him recently: he remained his humorous, charming, and well-informed self to the end. A true role model.
I was lucky when I gained Fred as my father-in-law. He was welcoming and generous. I will miss his sense of humor and his enthusiasm for good conversations and his love of learning. He will be missed.
Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your father. He loved all of you and was so proud of all of you and your accomplishments. As he wrote to me when my husband passed away in October, " I am so saddened by his passing", and that is exactly how I feel about his passing. God bless you, Fred
Fred was a wonderfully positive person and really appreciated having known him (through Jean). In addition, his influence encouraged me to research my family tree and do the NYT crossword puzzle. Condolences to his family, he was a great blessing.

I was lucky enough to have spent time with Fred every week, going on an outing or appointment for the past few years. Love you, Fred! very missed! big hugs to all the family and friends!
I didn't get to see Fred much after he moved west but we occasionally got together either in Rancho Mirage, the Bay area , and even in Wilsonville. On one trip up to the Bay, in mid summer, Fred suggested we go to Candlestick Park to take in a Giant game. It was a warm day and Linda and I were dressed in shorts and t shirts. Fred said we would freeze by 3 o'clock. I thought he was crazy but we took jackets and sweatshirts, just in case. Well the wind kicked up and we were FREEZING. As usual, Uncle Fred was right.
