Franklin's obituary
Franklin B. Bennett III passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 3, 1937, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to Franklin B. Bennett Jr. and Ruth Brearley Sheldon, Frank carried forward their legacy with a life marked by a strong faith in God, integrity, kindness and deep love for his family and community.
He was the beloved husband of the late Katharine (Kay) Bennett and a devoted father to Keith Franklin Bennett (Michelle Conway-Bennett) and Barbara Bennett Griffith (Robert N. Griffith, Jr.). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Claudia Katharine McMillin (Greg), Robert N. Griffith, III (Tripp), Hannah Margaret Griffith, and Addison Franklin Bennett. He also delighted in his role as great-grandfather to James Franklin McMillin, whose presence brought him immense joy.
As a young man Frank earned the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America, prior to graduating from Norristown High School in 1955. He began working as a lineman for Philadelphia Electric Co (PECO) and attended evening school at Temple University, earning an Associate Degree in Electronics. Frank worked at PECO for 39 years, before retiring in 1994.
He and Kay spent much of their life in Pennsylvania, including Norristown and Worcester, where Frank was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Norristown, the Jaycees, Faith Church of Worcester, as well as a leader of several youth sports organizations including Skippack Recreation Association, Methacton Aquatic Club, Methacton Baseball Association, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. They retired to Bluffton, South Carolina, in 1996, where Frank served as a Deacon at Hilton Head Presbyterian Church, played weekly rounds of golf, and enjoyed many hours of volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity. In 2016, he and Kay returned to Pennsylvania (Lansdale), where they both resided until their deaths.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his cherished wife Kay, his sister Brearly Bennett Karsch and her husband Carl Karsch, his parents-in-law John and Evelyn John, and his son-in-law Robert Griffith, Jr.
A memorial service to honor Frank’s life will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the Chapel at the Dock Woods – Living Branches Senior Living Community. The family will receive visitors beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be held immediately after the service.

Frank’s legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the many lives he touched. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
