Frank Smagala ("Old Guy")

June 23, 1949 – May 19, 2025

Frank Smagala, affectionately by his children known as “Old Guy,” passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, at the age of 75. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Frank later made his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he built a life full of family, character, and charm.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Claire Smagala; his children, Juli and Charles (with his wife Amanda); and his beloved grandchildren, Oliver and Luke. He is also survived by his brother George and sister Jean, along with many friends and extended family who loved him dearly.

Frank was known for his endless collection of dad jokes, his love of tinkering with things he planned to fix “one day,” and his unapologetically grumpy exterior—which everyone knew masked a heart full of deep love and loyalty. His sense of humor, strong opinions, and genuine care for those he loved made him unforgettable to all who knew him.

Frank will be missed beyond words but remembered with laughter, love, and a smile—just the way he would have wanted.
