Frank's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Sears, who left us on July 18, 2024, in Wells, Vermont.
Frank was born on January 7, 1956, in Braintree, Massachusetts. He served his country proudly as an Air Force veteran and had the honor of being part of the Presidential Detail while President Ford came to Fairbanks, AK. His professional journey was diverse and filled with dedication and hard work. Frank was a furniture repairman, a successful sales manager in Alaska and a respected select board member in Tinmouth, Vermont. He also ran a sawmill business, Phil’s Mill, in Vermont, and served as a lay pastor at Welsh Presbyterian Church in Poultney, VT.
Forty years ago, Frank made Alaska his home, where he became an integral part of the community. He was well-known as a Gold Heart Dancer during the Golden Days Festival in Fairbanks, a role that brought joy to many. His commitment to his community and friends was unwavering, always ready to lend a hand or offer his home to those in need.
Frank’s life was defined by his simple yet profound philosophy: love thy neighbor. He believed in understanding and connecting with people of all backgrounds and beliefs. His home was always open to friends and family, providing a safe haven and a place of comfort.
Frank was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelly Sears; his sisters, Cindy Sears Hunt and Maureen Froio Jacques; his brothers, Ricky and Anthony Froio; his son, Charlie Sears; and his daughter, Chelsea Hunt (Woodke). He was a proud grandfather to Felix-Oliver Sears, James Hunt, and Ava Hunt, who brought immense joy to his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Anchorage, Alaska, at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 12310 Lorraine St, Anchorage, AK 99516 on August 31, 2024 at 1:00pm. In honoring Frank’s memory, we hold on to the happy memories and the values he lived by: love, kindness, and community.
