Frank's obituary

Frank Janecek, age 82, of Carlsbad, California, took his final flight on January 18, 2021, after a repeated battle with pneumonia.

Frank was born on February 25, 1938 to Frank Janecek and Mary Margaret Frankovich in Akron Ohio. After graduating from Kenmore High School in 1956, he went on to study chemistry at Akron University. While attending Akron U, Frank joined the R.O.T.C., where he became a U.S. Army aviator. After graduation, he was deployed to Vietnam, having attained the rank of Captain and being awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. After being discharged, he landed a job as a flight engineer for TWA, retiring 30 years later as a Captain.

In 1960, he met Margaret Mary Iacomini - who he lovingly called Babe - and they wed on August 17, 1963. Frank and Babe had two children, Frank Jr., and Amy Marie Sims.

Frank was a devoted family man, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Frank Jr., Amy, and Babe and always doing his best to support them.

Frank was also a passionate golfer and could often be found on the links when he wasn’t at home.

Anyone who knew Frank knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Frank was predeceased by Babe. He is survived by Frank Jr. (and his wife Linda), Amy (and her husband Preston)and his two grandchildren, Georgia and Franco, whom he adored above all others.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of the North Coast. There will be a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. on February 12, 2021 at the Miramar National Cemetery. The service will also be available to be attended via internet live-stream.
