Frank Douglass (Doug) Dickey, 71, passed away on January 9, 2025 while on vacation in The Bahamas. Doug grew up in Bristol, VA to parents Ernest H. Dickey, Jr. and Doris June Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Alexander, sons Matthew Brian (Los Angeles, CA), Benjamin Douglass (Manassas, VA) and Jason Alexander (McLean, VA). He is also survived by his brother, Ernest Martin Dickey (Fort Mill, SC).
He graduated in the Class of 1976 from James Madison University (formerly Madison College) in Harrisonburg, VA with a B.S. in Mathematics and studies in Computer Science. While at Madison College, he enjoyed photography and was the Photography Editor of the 1974 Madison College Bluestone Yearbook.
His career spanned over 40 years in US Federal Government support to the Intelligence Community and to the Department of Defense. His experience focused on blending financial, management, programmatic, and technical disciplines to support mission areas. Before retirement, he worked most recently at ASEC, and previously RCT Systems, Advanced Concepts Inc, General Dynamics, and GTE Government Systems. Doug also served as President of the Windsor Park Cluster HOA in Reston, VA.
He enjoyed playing poker with friends, pickleball, and gardening. He was also in the photography club at the George Mason Osher Life-Long Learning Institute in Fairfax, VA.
A celebration of life for Doug will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 1pm in Reston, VA at The Lake House - 11450 Baron Cameron Ave.
