Doug was loved and appreciated by our Windsor Park cluster. He will be missed! Doug served in a number of volunteer roles over the years we knew him. He was considerate, practical, and approachable as a leader. Most of all, he was genuinely fun to be around and work with.
Heartfelt condolences!

Dear Pat and family, I am very saddened to hear of Doug's passing. While Doug and I had only been in touch the past few years on Facebook, he and I knew each other well years ago. Doug and I were roommates in college at Madison where I met Pat when she and Doug were dating. Doug and I shared a bedroom in an apartment off campus and he was the one that helped me settle on majoring in Math and computers like himself. I learned a lot from Doug. I served as an usher at your wedding and it was a privilege to do so. Doug was friendly, good company, and a good friend. After college, he helped me get a job at the Naval Research Lab (NRL) where he and I worked together for a few years, including a trip together to Puerto Rico to ride a Navy ship as part of field testing of some electronic warfare equipment. When he left NRL to join CTEC, he got me a job there as well and we worked together there for several years. I have nothing but fond memories and good feelings about Doug. His passing hit me hard. Pat, I'm sorry but I won't be able to attend the memorial service. I live in Arizona now and my son who lives in England is visiting me and I can't leave. I hope it is a comforting service and wish you all the best. I pray that you will feel the love and support of your family and loved ones to help you through this difficult time.

Pat, Matt, Ben and Amelia, and Jason,
On behalf of the Virginia High School Class of 1972, we extend our heartfelt condolences for your loss. Doug was a great classmate and friend. Fond memories of 1972 together with his long hair! And his presence with his lovely wife Pat at our reunions.
May you find comfort in each other for the coming days and years. You and everyone have lost a great man.

I wanted to let you know that I am very sorry to hear about Doug. Even though I hadn't seen him since youth, I have many fine memories of Doug and the Bristol VA/TN First Baptist Touring Youth Choir. Doug was part of the "Back of the Bus" funny group in the youth choir traveling the USA. Prayers for his friends and family. Sincerely, Kay Taylor (Hume)
