Francisco Javier Avilés Sr passed away at 6:21 pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Francisco Javier Avilés Sr was born November 19, 1947 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to Francisco Avilés Figueroa of Utuado, Puerto Rico & Carmen Lizardi Avilés of Caguas, Puerto Rico. Frank, as everyone called him, graduated from Colegio San Gabriel in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1965. He went on to study Computer & Information Technology at Gallaudet College in Washington DC. Frank was previously married and divorced. From that marriage he had a daughter, Cynthia & a son, Francisco Jr.

Frank met Linda Jo Billingsley in 1996. They were married on 10/12/2002 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Frank worked as a Civil Service Employee for the US Federal Governement and in 2014 he retired after 27 years of service.

He had a passion & love for the US Military [Frank wanted to serve but due to losing his hearing & going deaf at age 6 he was unable to] He was so interested in airplanes & flying small planes [Frank actually obtained his small aircraft pilot's license at one time]. Frank always knew how to make people laugh and was constantly joking and was a prankster. He loved spending time with family, friends, and close loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Lizardi Avilés in 2009, his father, Francisco Avilés Figueroa in 2015, & his son, Francisco Javier Avilés Jr in 2000 in a tragic car accident.

Frank is survived by his wife, Linda Jo Avilés of Murfreesboro, TN; a sister, Carmen Iraida Avilés & partner, Alvaro Del Toro of Puerto Rico; a daughter, Cynthia Roach & husband, Adam of Glasgow, KY: Stepdaughters, Laura Cox of Doyle, TN & Sandra Billingsley of Hermitage, TN. Five grandchildren, Corey Aviles & wife, Alyssa, Jason Billingsley, Rosemary Leer, Robert Cox, & Samara Kanjanda. Two great-grandchildren, Kali Avilés & Kyson Avilés.

It was Frank's request to be cremated & hold a Celebration Of Life memorial in his honor.  The family has entrusted Simple Cremation And Funeral Services in Smyrna, Tennessee with the cremation services. A small private Celebration Of Life was held Friday, November 4, 2022 at 12:00 pm at The home Frank & Linda Jo shared.
