Francis's obituary

Francis Gilbert Armstrong Jr., fondly known as Bud by some of his family members,  also known as Poppy to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, passed away peacefully in his sleep facing the sunset over the mountains that he loved so much. Born on July 8, 1941, Francis ended his earthly journey on October 26, 2023. A man of many passions and a heart full of love, Francis left an indelible mark on the many lives he touched.

Francis leaves behind his loving wife, Lorraine Armstrong, his three children Francis Armstrong, III and his wife Christina, Dawn Anderson and her husband Chris, and Sara Armstrong.  He also leaves 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his brother James Armstrong.

He was a loving figure to everyone, but his family, especially his wife, remained his greatest love.  They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in September. A man of humility and unconditional love, Francis was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Francis was a friend to everyone he met. His infectious enthusiasm for life and his exuberant laughter brightened up every room he entered. Whether it was his passion for the Eagles, hot showers, savoring a great cheesesteak, mowing the lawn, or racing hot rods, Francis lived life to the fullest.

He loved to sing.  He especially loved to sing hymns no matter where he was.  He sang in the car, in church and just walking around the house.

He was a hardworking man, a testament to his commitment was his work from his boyhood on the farm to his retirement after 44 long years as a truck driver. His legacy is defined by his humbleness, his sense of humor, and the love he bestowed upon his family and friends.

Bud's life was not just about work. He was a pillar in his local church community, serving as a home teacher, nursery leader, and a counselor in the Branch presidency. He was always there for those in need, offering help whenever he could.

Francis’s life will be celebrated at 50 Ragged Edge Rd on November 18, 2023, at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow at the same location at 11:30 AM. His life and legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. Despite his departure, his laughter and love for life remain with us, a beautiful memory we will always cherish.

We are grateful in the knowledge that we have the opportunity to see him again one day because families are indeed forever.   For now, he has left a big hole in our hearts.  Until we meet again...
