Frances (Fran)'s obituary
Frances Jane Gallo, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished matriarch of the Gallo family, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025, surrounded by the love of her children. A lifelong resident of Blue Island, Illinois, Frances dedicated her life to her family and her home, creating traditions that bound generations together and nurturing a legacy of love and resilience.
Frances was the daughter of Peter and Florence Bajorinas, who both preceded her in death, along with her beloved sister, Anna Jean Weber. Their love and values shaped the foundation of the family Frances would go on to nurture so deeply.
She was the proud mother of five children: Peter Gallo (wife Barb), Michelle Salgado, John Gallo (wife Ann), Luis (Louie) Gallo, and her late daughter Laura Wail (husband David). She also opened her heart and home to Blanca Hopman as part of her family. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren: Kristi Bartlett (husband Matt), Josh Wail, Erin Voss (husband Robert), Anthony Gallo, Zach Salgado, Melanie Salgado, Isabel Smith (husband Connor), Gabriel Gallo, Nathaniel Gallo, and Samuel Gallo. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Hannah, Jane, and Luke Voss, and Oakley Bartlett — with a fifth great-grandchild expected soon, a joyful reminder that her legacy continues to grow.
As a single mother, Frances raised her children with unwavering strength, grace, and love. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and laughter, especially during the holidays when she ensured every tradition was honored and every family member felt cherished. Her grandchildren fondly remember summers spent in her backyard pool, where joy and togetherness were always in abundance.
Frances was known for her kindness, her resilience, and her deep devotion to her family. She was the heart of every gathering, the keeper of stories, and the force that held generations together. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped and the love she gave so freely.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
