To Peter & Barb, Michelle, John & Ann, Louie, David, family and friends... Please accept my condolences on the passing of Fran.. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Looking back now I can't believe that I knew Fran for over 40 years. She was part of "the Mom group" at West Side Little League baseball. They all became friends and we're always looking out for "the young guy" who loved coaching and kids.
I so vividly remember Fran, sitting in her family room or out by the pool, talking about all the things happening in town, the people we knew, and her sons John and Pete. She was always so nice to me and treated me so well...always welcoming. She would always asked how I was doing and what was going on in my life.
I remember one conversation we had in particular. Fran asked me to look out for John, to make sure he was "doing the right thing". Like many of the baseball mothers over the year, I think they saw me as a responsible guy who could mentor and be a good role model to their kids. But it wasn't really that hard because almost all the kids who played ball for me had really good parents.
Fran had so many good qualities, but it was her strength and determination that served her well. I always say that being a parent is the hardest job in the world. Fran raised five wonderful kids by herself...not an easy task. And through it all with a smile and a lot of heart.
Mostly I will remember Fran as such a nice woman with a hearty laugh and a wry sense of humor. She was really fun to be around and always treated me well. I'm so glad I got to know her and spend a little time with her...chatting away on things of the day and life in general.
So cherish the memories and take solace in knowing that Fran will always be with you in spirit. Just smile and think of the great times had with such a wonderful person. May God grant her peace and serenity for all time.
