I so enjoyed our most recent time together, when we drove along the James River and visited scenic and historic spots. Fran, Robert and Sharon made me go into the National Parks Ranger's Office to get a Senior Pass, since I was the oldest person in the car and the only one old enough to qualify. With my newly acquired Senior Pass, they were able to get in free to all the National Parks and Memorials. And then they had the nerve to rag on me about my age. We had a great time.
In response to "When was the last time you spent time with Frances?"
Our deepest condolences on your loss. We hope you are comforted in the outpour of love for Frances and the memories shared. We send you love and strength during this difficult time.

In 1968, my Father's job moved our family from San Diego, CA to Woodbridge, VA. I was just entering my senior year of high school. I met Fran my first day of school at Woodbridge Senior High. She was the school photographer, so I tagged along with her just for something to do. We became the closest of friends during this time, and without her I know my senior year would have been spent alone and bored. Rather, we went to all the football games (Fran had to take the official pictures), after which we'd cruise around Woodbridge in my Dad's cadillac. We had so much fun together. We'd skip school and go into DC and visit the Smithsonian, or just walk around the city.
After graduation, when we were working at the American Chemical Society in DC, occasionally we would stay at Margie's apartment at Watergate and hang out in Georgetown. We were so cool! I recall having to evacuate our work office frequently because of bomb scares. Our building was located just next door to the Russian embassy.
I started college at VCU, and after graduating, I moved back to San Diego and saw Fran only when I went back to Virginia to visit my family. We kept in touch, of course, and did manage a RAAM road trip one year when Fran and I drove from Virginia to Atlantic City. One of Rob's sponsors that year was Trump Towers. When Fran and I checked in, they'd given our rooms to someone else, so they were obligated to find us someplace to sleep - we ended up in the tower suite ... what a laugh Franny had when we opened the door. There was a hot tub in the middle of the living room, with two bedroom suites on either side. I can still picture Fran and I laughing so hard at having a hot tub in our living room!
Fran, Virginia, myself and my husband managed to hook up in Maui one year. Fran and I challenged each other to go hang gliding from a boat ... "if you do it I will". Fying free. What a great day.
I did manage another visit to Virginia, as part of a work trip, after which I stayed with Fran and Robert in Sumerduck. We spent the day at Williamsburg doing touristy stuff. Next day Fran and I went for a bike ride, I believe at Prince William Park. We ended up huddled under the awning at the Ladie's room, hiding from the lightening which was immense and very scary to me. We do not get much of that kind of weather in San Diego.
So, Franny is no longer with us. I can see her so clearly, and feel that we could just jump in my Dad's cadillac and cruise around, listening to the radio, not a care in the world. Being the 60's/70's, we'd probably be in some kind of altered state of consciousness. There are so many remembrances of Fran and I doing crazy things. We went to the Strawberry Fields festival in Toronto where Fran met Harry. I think we started out bussing, then hitched a ride through Hershey, PA and met a girl from New York who talked incessantly about Muenster cheese, only she called it Monster cheese. We laughed and laughed at that.
So many memories. I'll miss you, Franny. I will see you on the other side.

Dear Family(Virgie, Robert):

I have very wonderful memories of my beloved aunt. Her journey is not over; it has just begun. “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard.”

A Mass will be offered for her and for the family at the Official Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in France. We are praying and love you very much!

Robert and Virgie,
Learned of Fran's passing just yesterday and wanted to share my deepest sympathies with you. I rode with Fran for quite a few years with the Fredericksburg Cyclists and she always entertained us as we
went the distance together. She was kind and considerate and gave me little gifts that I still have and think of her when I see them. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Sincerely Rosemary Pitts
