I did not know Frances, but after reading about her I wish I did. She obviously was an incredible woman who loved life and the outdoors. Thinking of you and wishing you peace after the loss of one who meant so much.

I met Franny when Robert asked me if I would be able to move the horses for them. Franny and I hit it off right away and the horse moving project became a long time friendship. We briefly bicycled together, but I was way too slow and she was so strong and fast, that the cycling phase for me didn't last long. The next time we saw each other, she had a horse, Bear. This started the next phase of our friendship. We rode many miles together and shared many stories. She had names for all the trails at Phelps and believe me, we rode all of them. Then we started doing the weekend camping rides, the Eastern Shore was the first and we went on to do others from there. When she lost Bear, and was ready to call it quits for the riding, I helped her find Wee LO and he became her best buddy. The last couple of years, I would visit when my work schedule and her doctors appointments allowed. We would go out for a meal, then she would show me her latest projects. She even showed me some of her beautiful photography, something I didn't even know she did. My last visit with her was in October 2019 a couple of days before I had foot surgery which kept me from doing much of anything until March of 2020. Franny was doing a lot of audio books at the time, so she gave me the names of lots of great books which kept my recovery time from driving me completely crazy. Then came COVID and visiting was not an option. We emailed and texted back and forth but slowly that dwindled to next to nothing. I miss you my friend. We had a lot of good times and I cherish the memory of every one of them.
Some of my best memories growing up were when my aunts, uncles and cousins would visit. I recently digitized a number of VHS tapes and came across this one of my aunt Fran joining other family members to celebrate Sean's 18th birthday party.

We will miss you aunt Fran and I wish we had kept in closer touch over the years. ❤️

I knew Fran and Kathi M spent some time on the wild side but had no idea to what extent. But, I did get to ride in the Cadillac, once.

I was aware when Fran used to let her pony loose before leaving for class in Jr High School so she could skip school under the guise of wrangling said pony. Now I have to wonder about the legitimacy of the mouse in her shirt sleeve one day before school - just another successful ploy to cut class? (THAT mouse had nothing to do with the mouse big brothers Fred and Jim skinned to serve as a rug for her doll house.)

A young Fran was once offered a chance to share half a Coca-Cola with her brother Michael. She was allowed first swig. Instead she stuck her tongue in the bottle. (Might have been some cups involved as Michael would not have wanted to drink from the same bottle, tongue or no tongue.) Briefly despaired brother Michael almost immediately received a new full bottle not to be shared. We always thought that outcome punished Fran. But now as an adult I have to think BOTH Fran and Michael benefited from her act of defiance. She got 1/2 a bottle instead of 1/4 and he got a whole pristine bottle instead of 1/4 of a lipped bottle. Fran was very giving that way ;)
I am so sorry to hear of Fran’s passing. I am one of her Canadian friends. We spent many years riding and enjoying each other’s company and I will forever hold those years dear to my heart. Hugs to Robert, the Kid, and step son, Alan and family.
