Floyd's obituary

Floyd Eugene “Gene” Bell, passed away in his home on April 18th, 2020 in Tabor, Iowa after fighting a lengthy battle with a brain tumor. He was 61 years old.

Gene was born April 27th, 1958 in Keosauqua, Iowa to his parents, Floyd and Georgia Bell. He spent most of his childhood in Malvern, Iowa where he attended school until he joined the United States Army in 1975. His 1st tour of duty was in Berlin, Germany where he met the love of his life, Gabriele Petsch. They were married on September 28th, 1978 in Berlin, Germany. Once out of the service in 1978, Gene and Gabi made their home in Tabor, Iowa. In February 1979, Gene suffered an industrial accident which completely severed his right arm. His reattachment was the 1st successful full arm reattachment at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Gene and Gabi’s marriage was blessed shortly after the accident by the birth of their two sons. Fabian Eugene was born April 6th, 1979 and Coray Dee born October 10th, 1980. The family relocated to Prue, Oklahoma from 1981 to 1986 where Gene got his start in the HVAC industry. He returned to Tabor, Iowa where he worked in HVAC when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2002. While battling this brain tumor he continued to work in HVAC with Sheet Metal Workers Local 3 of Omaha, Nebraska until 2008.

Gene loved the outdoors, spending time with his grandchildren and hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Gabriele Bell of Tabor, Iowa; his son and daughter in law Fabian and Cyndi of Sidney, Iowa; his son and daughter in law Coray and Amber of Waxahachie, Texas; 8 grandchildren (Jaiden, Flynt, Brextyn, Christian, Denver, Faelyn, Monroe and Credence), his mother Georgia Bell of Tabor, Iowa; his brother Tom and wife Traci of Tabor, Iowa; and brother Jeff of Tabor, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Rev. Floyd Elmar Bell and his grandparents Floyd and Grace Evelyn Bell.
