Florence Peterson was a wonderful mother and the (great)est of grandmothers, a caring wife, beloved daughter, faithful sister, and an enduring friend. She passed away peacefully on July 13, 2023 at the age of 87.

She was born to George and Jesse Johnson on March 27, 1936, the youngest of 11. After graduating from Boonton high school, Florence began her family and built a life of love and laughter that has impacted over 5 generations.

She is predeceased by her parents, siblings, father of her children, Donald Green, and devoted husband of 25 years, Donald Peterson.

Florence is survived by four children; Karen Walsh (John), Sandy Finlay (Robert), Donna Christino, and Jeff Green (Day); three stepchildren; eight grandchildren; Jeff, Shaun, Dawn, Christina, Tammie, Robbie, Daniel, and Jonathan; and eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Florence brought joy wherever she went whether at work in the phone company, visiting homemakers, or at home with family. She knew how to make everyone smile and laugh. She volunteered her time and her talents at her church, Grace and Peace of Toms River, through hospitality, prayer, and serving at the Food Bank.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30am on July 29, 2023 at Evangel Church in Scotch Plains (1251 Terrill Road). In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hand of Hope (a Joyce Meyer Ministry) on her behalf.
