Florence's obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Florence Minerva Dangman (née Richter), age 88, who passed away on August 17, 2024, at home in Schaumburg, Illinois. Born on November 26, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, to Pauline and George Richter, and preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenneth Dangman Sr of 67 years, her son John Dangman, brother George Richter, and son-in-law John Perryman.

Florence attended Gresham Grade School followed by Calumet High School, laying a strong foundation for her values of hard work and commitment. Throughout her life, she was a proud and active member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Lawn, IL, where she found great comfort and community.

Florence was a beloved matriarch whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was married to Kenneth Dangman Sr and together they raised a loving family. She was a devoted mother to Kenneth Jr., Debbie (John) Perryman, John, and Kathy (Ray) Schulte.  Florence was a lifelong beacon of love and dedication, cherished by all who knew her.

Florence's joy was amplified by her role as a grandmother to John (Jen), Kenny III (Nikki),  Eric (Alyssa), Lauren (Chris), Heather (Kyle), and Tiffany, and a great-grandmother to Dylan, Rae, Wesley, and Leni. She was a proud aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader, enthusiastically supporting them rain or shine in their various sports and activities, including football, cheerleading and wrestling.

A woman of many interests, Florence enjoyed camping, swimming, Saturday flea markets, garage sales, caring for all her pets, and feeding all her squirrels as well as an occasional stray cat. Her passion for cooking and making sure there was always a hot meal on the table for dinner was never taken for granted.

Florence was known for her smart, kind, witty, and fun personality, often brightening the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her famous quote “I’ll pow you in the kisser” exemplified her spirited nature. A true fireball, she shared boundless love and laughter, including her notorious dance move “the Camel walk” . Florence’s family was the centerpiece of her life, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and nurturing that will be carried on through generations.

Florence's life was a testament to the power of kindness and hard work, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in her honor.
