I think about Andy all the time, but will be thinking of him a lot here on his birthday. The most memorable birthday of Andy's was when he turned 30 and I met tequila Burns. Andy hosted a part at his house and it was obviously packed because everyone wanted to celebrate him. There's a lot going on in the basketball world that I KNOW you wouldn't like, and even more going on in the world in general that I would have loved talking about with you. Happy birthday my friend - you are missed dearly.

I am so sad to hear about Andy’s passing. I was friends with Andy at UVA and he was such a genuinely kind, uplifting, awesome person. Andy was truly a UVA basketball fan favorite and the arena would go absolutely WILD when he entered the game. He was so loved by our graduating class. Laura, I am so sorry for your loss. I know that you and the beautiful family that you and Andy created will carry on his legacy. You all are in my prayers.

"Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can. " That is Andy to us. We see you looking down on us.  We will keep the good going sir.

I first met Andy 14 years ago through our mutual friend Pat Welch during a fun weekend in New York, and we became quick friends. Over the years, we bonded over video games, movies, and capitalizing on sportsbook promos, but also on the bigger things: his views on life and what really matters.

When my mom passed away in 2013 after a hard fight with breast cancer, Andy was there for me, helping distract me during a tough time through an invite to a music festival and night out in Baltimore. Not too long ago, we were talking about career challenges, and what he said has stuck with me. To Andy, career growth mattered, but never at the cost of a stressful life or crossing boundaries against what was most important—his family and friends.

Andy was a great guy and an even better friend. I’ll forever miss him and the huge bear hugs only someone with that wingspan could give.

Oh Andy, What to say? We were all banking on you beating this and you tried so hard.  This was not the plan. You have been so strong and wanted to be there for Laura, Caroline and Peter.  I know you are watching over them and will be forever.  We will make sure they have a happy, good life and will keep your memory alive. The kids will know you through the stories we tell about you.  Rest in peace now, out of your pain, and know we all love you.   Janice (Andy's mother-in-law).

In 2018, my dad and I road-tripped to Richmond to visit Andy and Laura. They were such excellent hosts and I loved seeing how happy they were together. They took us to see outdoor live music at the art museum. It was such a joy to have Andy and Laura as our tour guides, and it was so apparent how much they loved the city and loved exploring it together. My dad loved hearing about Andy’s job as an engineer and I thought it was neat that he went along with a line of questioning about steam engines. My dad gave him the “Uncle Squad” treatment and Andy always passed the test. We were so excited when they got engaged and the special way that he proposed to Laura, traveling all the way to England, showed how deeply he cared for her. Andy always had such a great sense of humor and an ease about him. I was so honored to stand up for them at their wedding and I loved getting to know Andy’s family. Andy will be greatly missed, and I know that his memory lives on through all who loved him.

You and your family our in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of loss. Many Blessings!
