Fernando's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Fernando Steiner Tudela, who left this world on January 19, 2026. Fernando was born April 19, 1938 in Rurrenabaque, Bolivia South America and his presence on earth will forever be remembered by his loved ones.
Fernando is survived by his children, Fernando Ruiz Tudela (Stacey) and his daughter Maria Tudela Bright (Tim), 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. His memory will also live on through his siblings, Roland Tudela Steiner, Consuela Tudela Stewart (Bobby), and Aura Tudela Steiner, who mourn the loss of a brother dearly loved.
Fernando was welcomed into heaven by his father, Armando Tudela Gutiérrez, his mother, Maria Steiner Cartagena, and his siblings, Fabiola Tudela de la Torre, Renan Tudela Steiner, Armando Tudela Steiner, and Olanda Tudela, who preceded him in death.
In 1961, Fernando made a significant life-changing decision and moved to St. Petersburg, FL. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life. Fernando embraced the American dream and, in 1995, proudly became a United States citizen with his wife Lucila and son Fernando.
Sambos originally brought Fernando (Fred) and his family to the Evansville area. His expertise in cooking saw him work and open restaurants in the tri-state area including Farmer’s Daughter, The Red Geranium, The Shadblow, PizzAroma and the Cardinal. Fernando returned to the Evansville area to operate the Cross-Eyed Cricket Restaurant with his wife in 1989. He would eventually move on to Denny’s retire after 25 years. His dedication and work ethic left an indelible mark on all those he served and worked with in his professional life.
Fernando Tudela was a man of strength and courage. His life will forever be celebrated and loved by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on earth may have ended, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
A celebration of life will take place when his brothers and sisters are able to travel.
