The first time I met Sonny, I believe we were on a picnic with Wanda and Pete, some time in the 70's. Bill and I were stretched out on a blanket. Sonny had brought his guitar and was playing "Michelle", the Beatles' tune. It was just such a sweet moment and I'll always remember it. He was always sweet and kind to me. He will be missed.

Memories of Sonny always include that head of hair! When it was long he'd swish his head back and give you a sheepish grin, when it was short he'd run his hand front to back folded by that same grin. He could carry on a conversation about any topic and just when it got deep he'd throw in a line of humor! Sonny was a talented man, always learning and even if you didn't agree, he'd give you his ear. I especially love this last season of his life as he allowed us to see more of his heart, his love of family was a priority. ❤️ You will be missed.

His obituary described him perfectly. He was a fun, crazy and passionate cousin. Our mothers were sisters. My mom, aunt Evelyn, was one of four. Sonny was very talented and a people person. Though , he could be very deep. I have the fondest memories of trips to Colorado and then his family visits to St. Louis. We were blessed to be a part of the Carter family. See ya later, Cuz.
