Love you Auntie Kay. You were a big part of my life. I had several aunts, and Auntie Kay always made trips out to see the family. Such great times! I remember a time I went to church with her... very different from any mormon church i had been to.. they had a band and everyone was so happy and excited. A very cool experience! She was such a warm and loving person. Love you Auntie Kay!

I'm sorry I'm just finding out about Aunt Kay's passing.
She was such a fun aunt! I remember every time I heard she was coming to town, it was so exciting! Especially if she brought Joe and/or Wendall. Such good times I will always remember.
Peace and love to you boys..Tom,Wendall, and Joe.

Mom's Recollection of Life at Loring during the 1960’S and Early ‘70’S
I like that last sentence! And I agree whole-heartedly!!! I've not had a "long" blackout, although they happen quite often during "the thunderstorm season." I think the longest I've endured was a couple of hours; but I do tend to "freak" when they go out. If I know a storm is coming, I try to keep a flashlight handy and know where the candles and matches are. Most of the time, by the time I get the candles lit, the lights come back on. But I do praise the Lord for electricity. I have lived without it for up to a month many years ago when I lived in Alaska. The Stacks have summer homes in a little spot called "Loring," which is about 20 miles around the island from Ketchikan. Back then - there wasn't any electricity. Most laundry was done by hand, although Uncle Richard had a generator hooked up to a wringer washer, and he would let me wash diapers in it (pre-Pampers) - a real treat! We bathed in a tin tub with water heated on a gas stove (only modern convenience). Heat was a wood stove and lights were lanterns. We spent lots of time out there - and loved being "away from it all!" One of my favorite things was sitting on the rocks of the beach, with the water lapping softly, and enjoying the sun and telling God "Thank you!" for His Son and all the beauty surrounding me. It was a wonderful time - and I miss it. The little village has been "modernized" since I was there the last time in Sept. 1974. I want to go back and visit sometimes but wonder if I'll like the changes - although God's beauty is still all around!!!

I admired Kay most for her kind, generous and gentle spirit. She was the nicest Mother-in-Love a girl could ask for. She was an amazing mother, friend and teacher - and I loved her. Kay's influence and presence in the family will be missed, I wish I could hug her neck right now, but I know that she is at peace with being welcomed by her siblings and loved ones and starting the next chapter. Goodbye for now, Momma - I love you. XOXO
