Evelyn Joyce Garcia, age 64, born June 15, 1943, in Hamilton, TX passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008. She is survived by her husband Joe; her children Karla, Robert, and Jennie; her grandchildren, Eli, Hannah, Elizabeth, and Joel; her brothers Adrian and Garland. She was devoted to investing herself in her children and grandchildren. They will be forever grateful that her life and words demonstrated so clearly that the Lord is real and worthy of our complete and joyful devotion. She spent much of her life working alongside her husband Joe, supporting him as a USAF Chaplain, Pastor, and Director of Hispanic-Latino Outreach for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Together, they worked to introduce others to Jesus Christ, in both the US and England. Most recently, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Boerne, where she devoted herself to teaching other women how to study the Bible for the last eight years. She also loved to make quilts, which were always beautiful and often award-winning. Visitation will be on Monday, January 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Vaughan's Funeral Home, 319 East San Antonio St., Boerne, TX. Service of life and resurrection will be on Tuesday, January 29, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 315 Rosewood Ave., Boerne, TX., with Pastor Henry Schulte, officiating. Funeral Service and Burial will be on Wednesday, Jan 30, at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. in Shive, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorials be made to Precept Ministries International, P. O. Box 182218, Chattanooga, TN 37422. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Vaughan's Funeral Home of Boerne.
