Evan's obituary
Evan Howard Heise
April 19, 1972 – February 29, 2024
Evan had the rare gift of turning life’s quirks into punchlines. He knew how to look at the bright side, and he had a way of helping others do the same. His generosity was unmatched—he gave even when he had little, and he never gave up on the people he loved.
For more than 12 years, he worked as a Regional Sales Manager for Hewlett-Packard, specializing in digital printing presses. Evan loved technology, and he was committed to his clients. So committed, in fact, that when he was on a call, everyone in the house knew he meant business.
He worked hard, played harder, and could close a deal with the kind of charm most salesmen only dream about. Evan loved the outdoors—camping, riding ATVs and snowmobiles, boating—and when he wasn’t adventuring, he was probably in the garage surrounded by his beloved tools, cars, motorcycles, sunglasses, or yet another pair of shoes. He had an impressive collection, and an even more impressive ability to make you laugh until your stomach hurt.
A lifelong Star Wars fan, Evan lived with the kind of hope and courage those stories inspire. He was a best friend, a brother, and above all, a dad taken far too soon.
He is survived by his son, Kyler Don Heise; his daughter, Amanda Heise; his sister, Diane Heise; and Diane’s daughters, Katrina and Cheryl. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Devon Heise.
Though his official death certificate says March 1, 2024, those who knew him know he slipped away on Leap Day—a day that only shows up every four years. In true Evan fashion, he’d probably say he managed to make even dying a rare moment. In fact, his daughter Amanda is planning a celebration of Evan’s life on the next Leap Year, February 29, 2028, so that family and friends can gather on the day that will always belong to him. More details will be shared as the date approaches.
He will be greatly missed by his family, but his laughter, lessons, and love will live on.
