Eva's obituary
Eva Dong Leyva
Our beloved and cherished mother, Eva Dong Leyva, passed away on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023. She was a beautiful, spirited woman who devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom surrounded her with love and warm-heartedness during her final days. Born to Soledad Burciaga and Lim Yuen Dong in Phoenix, AZ, on December 29th, 1929, Eva was the youngest of eight children. She was proud of her Chinese and Mexican heritage, and growing up in the family's grocery business, Eva proudly worked throughout her life in the grocery and food industry.
Eva always placed her family first, providing for and protecting them. She was a strong, independent, and passionate individual who placed value on family, education, and Christian faith. She was proud of the fact that she raised three children who all graduated college -and encouraged them to be loving, responsible, and supportive parents. Anyone who met Eva knew her as a caring, and generous woman; one who was full of love and supported anyone in need. She was adored and loved by her family and friends, and she touched many lives. Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Leyva, daughter, Elizabeth Louise Weaver, and grandson, Philippe Leyva. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Leyva, son, Michael Leyva, daughter-in-law, Carol Leyva, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind nieces and nephews, and dear friends from the Senior Center, where she enjoyed spending time. Her nephew said, “May Aunt Eva be happily engaged forevermore with her family that preceded her in the journey to Heaven.”
