Eugene Allen Thorpe was born at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York to the late Eugene and Sadie Thorpe on August 15, 1954. Gene or Junie, as he was affectionately known, graduated with a GED from Thomas A. Edison Career and Technical Education High School.
