Eugene's obituary
Eugene "Gene" Marks, 77, of Midvale, UT, Returned to his Heavenly Father on June 09, 2023.
Born in Bell, California to Leroy, and Edith Marks, Eugene was a protective, and loving son.
Eugene was drafted into the Army during Vietnam with the rank of PVT. Eugene received an honorable discharge from the Army.
Eugene was fiercely passionate about The Savior, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, from his twenties until death. Eugene dedicated his life to both his pursuit of eternal exaltation, and his family. Eugene had a very close relationship to our Savior, and Heavenly Father.
On New Year's Eve in 1974, Eugene met his wife, and eternal companion Debra Pitt, They were sealed for all eternity in the LDS Los Angeles, California temple just a short four months later. Eugene was happily married to the love of his life for 48 years, and went on to have 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Eugene put family first, always, and was a dedicated spouse, and father.
Eugene was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive husband, and father. His knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family. Eugene loved being a husband, and father more than anything in the world. Eugene always stressed to his children how important family is. He would tell his children when they were younger, and not getting along, that one day they would be best friends. Eugene's children didn't believe him in those moments. As Eugene's Children grew into adults, they realized that their father was correct.
Eugene was also a passionate Artist. When he moved to Utah in the 1980's, he developed a lung disease, and underwent surgery for it. There were complications that forced him to make a career change from a welder. He started college at Salt Lake Community College where he obtained his associate degree. He later went on to Westminster College to obtain his bachelor's degree. He started out at Westminster college doing a work study job while getting his bachelor's degree. He then was hired on fulltime and worked there for many years. Eugene loved being an artist, and Graphic Artist. Eugene had to retire early due to health issues. He spent most of his retirement doing his favorite activity of spending time with his family. Eugene also loved spending hours on his computer making art, and videos.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents Leroy, and Edith Marks, siblings Harvey Marks, Margaret (Jerry) Norris, Larylee Marks. Eugene leaves behind his spouse Debra Marks, his Children, Joyce (Brett) Harris, Jackie Lister, and Jonathan Marks. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Christian Ford, Michael (Jaimy)Waters, Tylar Turner, Chandler King, Bailey (Jaelin)Headrick, Samantha Lister, Cameron King, Daniel Harris, Brandon (Dorothy) Harris, and Jonathan Marks Jr. Eugene is also survived by his Great Grand Children Ezra, and Ezekiel Waters, and Jaeliah Barajas. Eugene Edwin Marks will be missed dearly as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. "Till We Meet Again."
Memorial Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Monday June 26Th at 6:00 PM. The address is 97 West 7500 South Midvale, Utah 84047. Eugene's remains will stay with the love of his life until they can both be placed in their final resting spot together at the VA Cemetary in Bluffdale, Utah.
The family would like to thank everyone at Bristol Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Eugene towards the end of this life. The family would also like to thank Serenity Funeral Home for the care that he received after leaving this world. Eugene's family would also like to thank all the friends, and family that have been so loving and supportive.
