Eugene's obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Eugene Divinsky, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Despite years of valiant fighting, ongoing health issues took Eugene from us Friday, October 7th at the age of 45.

Eugene – Zhenya to his family and Gene to his friends, was born on August 8, 1977, in Kiev Ukraine, to Alex and Tatyana Divinsky. He is survived by his parents, his sister Irina and her husband Ian, his adoring nephew Caddie, as well as his aunts, uncle, cousin, and countless friends.

When Eugene immigrated to the United States with his family in December 1988, it was a difficult assimilation process. But with his stellar fashion sense, quick wit, and love for jokes, he quickly made friends; these skills served him well throughout his life.

Friendship was important to Eugene; he excelled at not only making friends but being a great friend. With his love of gab, sense of loyalty, and openness, no matter where Eugene went or what he was doing, he made lasting connections with people.

Those lucky to know Eugene knew a genuine, generous, easy-going, and fun-loving human being. Eugene truly cared about people and loved them for who they were and did what he could for them without guile or seeking anything in return.

While Eugene struggled these last few years with his health, he always approached life with a sense of wonder and adventure. He lived and enjoyed living the moment, often without regard for risk or consequence – which occasionally got him into trouble. But wow, he did live an amazing life.

Eugene was ever the entrepreneur, always seeking new opportunities to make his mark on the world. He was not only a foodie, he loved to cook for and host his friends. He loved to travel and explore the world. While there were a great many places he still wanted to see, he experienced more of the world than most.

Eugene had an ever-present smile, with a warmth, depth, and intelligence behind it that drew people to him. Eugene had so much goodness, so much capacity to bring happiness to others, and such a bright future. The world is a lesser place without him.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 1:00pm at the Chapel at Norbeck Memorial Park Cemetery located at 16225 Batchellors Forest Rd, Olney, MD 20832. The funeral service will immediately follow.

Flowers can be sent to the Chapel at Norbeck Memorial Park before 12 noon
