Ethan's obituary

Ethan “Beau” Eger: world champion of backyard baseball, undefeated king of the well-placed one-liner, and a man who could probably teach a masterclass in creative swearing, has officially left the building. He was reunited with his dad, Steve, on the morning of Thursday, March 13, 2025.

For those concerned, Beau did not succumb to the heartbreak of yet another rough Auburn football season (though it was a close call). Instead, he fought a long and frustrating battle with IgA nephropathy, which rudely interrupted all the big dreams he had ahead of him.

Beau’s greatest love in life was his Husky, Mishka. His daily routine consisted of snuggling Mishka, taking her to the dog park, and ensuring she knew she was the most beautiful girl in the world (because she was).

Trying to describe Beau in one sentence is impossible, but let’s just say he had the heart of Mother Teresa and the temper of Bobby Knight, a combination that made him both fiercely loving and wildly entertaining. He could dish out an insult faster than most people could think, and his favorite pastime was out-roasting his brother in a battle of wits. He loved spending time with his mom, especially when it involved good food, and had big dreams of teaching his nieces and nephews the finer points of baseball (whether they wanted to learn or not). He repeatedly asked his brother-in-law to let him coach football but ultimately decided he was better off managing his Fantasy Football team from the comfort of his couch.

Beau was deeply loved and leaves behind his mother, Janette (not Jeanette); his sister, Carrie (Wilson); his brother, Luke (Zoe); and his favorite tiny humans—Kenson, August, Graham, Sutton, and Harrison. He had so many aunts and uncles and cousins, and there is only so much room to write. We should also mention he is survived by Luke and Carrie’s siblings that weren’t also his siblings, but now his obituary is just getting confusing. He is now reunited with his dad, Stephen, and his beloved Chihuahua, Spunky. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Herb and Edna Bowen, and Gerald and Jaqueline Eger.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 4 p.m. in Charlotte, NC. Please email mrscarriehelms@gmail.com for details on how to attend.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up to cover end-of-life expenses and can be sent to https://everloved.com/life-of….

While we’re heartbroken, we know Beau would want us to laugh through the pain, make an inappropriate joke at an inappropriate time, and never take life too seriously. And most importantly—War Eagle forever.
