Esther's obituary
Esther Weir was one of a kind, she lived a full life in which would fill pages with all her accomplishments and life achievements, so though this will be brief it only shows you a glimpse of her life. She loved adventure, camping, trying new things and of course her yard sale adventures. She was always there for anyone who needed anything. She was so much to so many… a ceramic teacher, a seamstress, keys to learning teacher, a den mother, girls scout leader, Canoed with the mean greens, Head start advocate, a decan of her church, a hospice volunteer and most of all a foster mother of many. Esther was a stay at home mom who always found ways to make life adventurous. It was her imagination and her thrive for life that, though money was tight, we always felt rich with life whether camping or making our yearly trips to Ohio to see family. She made sure we all had a childhood we could forever talk about and memories that will always make us smile. She loved her shopping, finding a good bargain and most of all her yard sale finds. She always found the best items at the lowest costs. She loved to be needed and loved even more to be able to find ways to help. She never let anyone go hungry, loved to cook, and would feed everyone. There was always room at her table. She was loved by many and her crazy stories will live on forever in our hearts. It is with sadness in our eyes and a heavy heart we have to say goodbye until we meet again.
Esther was born Feb 21, 1931 in Chautauqua, Arkwright NY to Mervin and Mildred Tilly. On June 17th, 1950, Esther married the love of her life, Ferdinand, they were married and together till he passed in 1997. Together they had a love of children and raised 9 amazing children, not to mention numerous foster children throughout the years. Esther was originally from Up State New York and moved to Philadelphia in her younger years. Once married they moved to Colwyn where they resided there for over 60 years. When Esther’s Alzheimer’s had progressed, Esther moved to West Chester with her daughter and Son in law. Esther was a true fighter, when most would roll over and let this disease destroy them, she reinvented herself and lived the last 3 years laughing, traveling to TN, making new friends, and living a whole new life. She was the lucky one, she got to experience two life journeys in one lifetime.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred (Horton- Tilly) Sier and Mervin Tilly, Sister Gladys (Tilly) Jenkins, her husband Ferdinand Weir and daughter Jaqueline (Weir) Shaffer. She is survived by her 8 children, Linda (Joseph) Mulranen, David (Anne) Weir, Daniel (Berta) Weir, Stephen Weir, Debra (Scott) Miller, Sandra (John) Abate, Michelle (Phillip) White and Christina Maple along with much loved 18 grandkids, 15 great grandkids.
Unfortunately, in lou of the Corona Virus the celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
