Louise's obituary
Erta Louise Rupp (Louise), 90, originally of Idaho, peacefully passed on April 17, 2024. Louise was a resident of Cameron Park, Ca for 32 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years George Rupp; children Patricia Rupp Norton, Stephen Rupp and Jacquelyn Rupp Odenthal; sisters Nancy Booth and Darlene Kelly; grandchildren Jennifer Edwards, Tobin (Toby) Norton, Jamie Schneider, Patrick Odenthal Jr. and Jason Odenthal; eight great grandchildren (with one more on the way); four great-great-grandchildren; many close nieces and nephews and a village of loving caregivers - some of whom became family.
Loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma and friend to so many, Louise would always put others ahead of herself. She always tried to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. From humble beginnings, Louise helped raise her siblings and cared for many others through the years. Louise had the most caring personality with an amazing quick-wit that kept us all on our toes and laughing. An avid reader, member of the local card club, she also loved music of all genres including favorites of Big Band, Sinatra, Jazz and especially the Blues, and she knew how to groove to them all. Modest but sure, Louise was the example to follow.
Louise’s professional career included Teaching, Clerk Typist and Administrative Assistant roles including serving as the Executive Secretary with the leaders of the Naval Air Training Unit for many years where she was awarded as a Plank Owner as well as earning the Air Force Exemplary Civilian Service Award. She kept high-ranking Naval Officers organized and in line while coaching and caring for many more. She also loved to organize events including several U.S. Navy Annual Balls.
They say you can measure the success of one’s life by the pride and love in their families’ voices as they speak of them – Louise was very successful. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. When you think of Louise, pay it forward, wear your favorite blue outfit, turn on your favorite music, tap your toe and carry a great attitude. Louise will rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon CA. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Alzheimer’s research, St. Jude’s or the Disabled American Veterans.
