Ernie was one of life’s natural magnets, he attracted people to him and energised them in a positive and uplifting way. Always optimistic, always fun and so good at helping make connections. In a world where people are getting more isolated and inward looking, Ernie was the antidote.
He helped our company develop in new territories and his knowledge and energy seemed endless. He loved life and lived it to the full, a genuine legend of our industry.
Thank you Ernie for your time in this world and have fun sorting out the next one for us all.
Everyone at Commotion will miss you, especially Ray and me who shared so many fun trips in Hong Kong and other far away lands.

Farewell Mr Smart..
Ernie was a character like no other. He dragged our industry, kicking and screaming into the world of globalisation with all its benefits and challenges. He bridged cultural gaps and found ways of connecting people that few others in our business have ever manged to imitate. He will be missed very much by very many across the world. His friendly smiling face and kindly demeanour were part of the rich tapestry of our business, and it is without doubt, poorer without him. God bless you Ernie our lovely friend, and although at times like this, words seem inadequate to express feelings of sympathy to his family, please try to take some solace and comfort in the fact that Ernie’s life was filled with adventure, laughter and fun wherever he went. It was without doubt, a life well lived.
