Ernest's obituary

Today we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Ernest Paul Peterman, born on September 15, 1963, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Ernest Commodore Peterman and Ella Laverne Francis Peterman and Oldest sister Marcella. Proceed in death by his Parents Ernest and Ella Peterman, Wife Dana, and Beloved grandson Kellen Rasch. With numerous Family and friends throughout the years.

Ernest — or as many of us knew him, simply “Ernie” or "Porky" — was a man full of heart, humor, and grit. He was a dedicated owner-operator, driving 18-wheelers across the United States. The open road was his home away from home, and through those long miles he built a life full of hard work, stories, and people who came to know his generous spirit.

He was funny, kind, giving, and caring — and yes, stubborn as heck, too. But that stubbornness came from a place of determination. It was part of what made him strong, what kept him pushing forward no matter the road ahead.

Ernest never met a stranger. No matter who you were or where you came from, if you crossed paths with him, he treated you like a friend. He had that rare gift of making people feel welcome — with his smile, his humor, and his genuine interest in others.

But no matter how many miles he drove, his heart always came home — to us, his kids: Crystal Lynn, Christina Marie, and Ernest Commodore Paul. We were his pride and joy, even when he didn’t always say it out loud. You could see it in the way he smiled when he talked about us, or the way he’d do anything to help if we needed him.His love for us ran deep — steady and strong, like the roads he drove.

Ernest’s life was a journey — full of laughter, hard work, stubborn love, and countless miles of memories. Though he’s no longer here with us in body, his spirit rides on — in every story we share, every lesson he taught, and every bit of kindness he showed.

We will miss him deeply, but we’ll carry him with us — in our hearts, in our laughter, and in the way we treat others. Because if Ernest taught us anything, it’s that life’s about the people you meet along the way — and how you treat them when you do!

Riding with the angels we love you daddy!
