Ernest's obituary
Ernest Augustus Morris, 92, of London, passed away on January 11, 2025, after a short battle with septicaemia.
Ernest was born on 21/05/1932 in the Parish of St Ann's in the village of Harmony Vale, Jamaica. Little of his past in Jamaica is known other than he had many children before he decided to travel aboard.
In 1961 he decided to start a new life in England. Due to the barriers in place against people of colour, Ernest decided to run his own business, which he named New York Cars. In 1975, he met Ms Howell, and they wed in 1978, going on to have three children, Meredith Howell-Morris, Ian Howell-Morris and Rhydian Howell-Morris.
Ernest was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of all his children and grandchildren, those in the UK, America and Jamaica alike. He always tried his best to support them.
Ernest was also a passionate cricketer who loved to play as well as watch cricket, especially in the 1980s and 1990s when the West Indians used to win all the time against the bland potato men as he called them. He also loved to cook and there would often be the smell of Jamaican food coming from his home. When he wasn’t at home, he worked a lot of long hours to support not only his kids but also help so many other people from all walks of life. Ernest wouldn't see a person go without. Anyone who knew Ernest knew that he was the most loving father and grandfather a family could ask for.
Ernest was predeceased by his mother and father as well as his brothers King and Ken, who themselves had children, Trevor. He is survived by Meredith, Ian, Rhydian as well as Cardett Evon Morris-Geohagen and her children Meicha Moguche , Nickesha Geohagen,Norsha Lopez, Shaneika Duman, Son Orthan Geohagen
