Skip's obituary
Ernest "Skip" W. Britt
A Legend was born on May 10, 1947, at 10:50 p.m. in Hamilton, Ohio to Mack Britt Jr. and Sarah (Woods) Halsell. He was his father's Birthday gift and his mother's Mother's Day gift. Early in life, he was nicknamed Skip shortened for Skipper given to him by his "Dolly" (Virginia Woods / Grandmother). As a young child, Skip was raised in Pilgrim Baptist Church where he learns to reverence God. Skip attended Hamilton City Public School during the Civil-Rights era, making life very difficult for a young disabled man, no matter the odds he prevailed and graduated from Garfield High School in 1965. Despite the fact he was born with Cerebral Palsy it never stopped him. He was extreme when it came to sports and there wasn't a sport he didn't know. For a short period of time was employed by the Booker T. Washington community center as a groundskeeper. Due to Reaganomics Skip was forced out of a job to live a meager lifestyle. Even with these odds, Skip found a way to live his life to the fullest while finding time to lend an ear and advice to others. Skip was a Realist, he always believed you can get thru anything in life with determination and Prayer.
