Erin's obituary

Erin Colene Murphy, a beloved resident of Bend, Oregon, passed away on November 14, 2023, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born in Iowa, Erin brought warmth and kindness to the lives of those around her.

Erin's journey began on November 8, 1980, and throughout her life, she exemplified joy, compassion, and resilience. A loving mother, friend, and confidante, Erin touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. Her spirit was a beacon of light, illuminating the paths of those fortunate enough to know her. She graduated from high school in Pleasantville, Iowa in 1999, and studied Health Promotion at the University of Iowa, graduating in 2003. She pursued her passion for healing and wellness by studying massage therapy in Hawaii, and later became a certified yoga instructor. She brought healing to many.

Erin faced cancer head-on with unwavering strength and grace. Her determination and positive outlook inspired those around her, leaving an enduring impact on the community. Despite the trials, Erin continued to emanate love and joy, reminding us to cherish the beauty of every moment.

She is survived by her parents, Ray and Jeanie (Schumann) Murphy of Pleasantville, Nancy (Eckardt) and Norb Greiner of Knoxville, and her siblings Molly Murphy (Paul Haugland), Brian Murphy, Tristan Murphy (Mary), Samantha Wissler (Spencer), Shannon Roff (Joe), and Ryan Taylor, their families, and her two beautiful daughters, Jillian Murphy and Cora Driesen, the lights of her life, and Shannon Driesen, her husband of seven years. Her entire family will hold onto the cherished memories of her laughter, kindness, and the love she shared.

She will be reunited in death with her grandparents, Olive Colene and Floyd Murphy, and Margaret and Wayne Eckardt, her uncle Rich Murphy, and several dear friends.

So many have been incredibly generous throughout her cancer journey, and we are deeply appreciative. There is nothing more we need. If you feel moved, in lieu of flowers, any donations made will be added fund for her daughters at https://everloved.com/life-of….

A memorial service to celebrate Erin's life will be held in Bend on 11/18, and in Iowa at a date yet determined, the details added to her monorail site. To honor her memory, let us come together to share stories, find solace, and remember Erin for the extraordinary person she was.

Erin's departure leaves a void that words can hardly fill, but her legacy of love, light, and strength will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she fly free.
