Eric Sean Ramsey (Erik), 58, of Dallas, Texas, died on April 13, 2026. He was born on October 13, 1967, a Friday the 13th which he embraced as his favorite number, and fittingly, his life came full circle on another 13th.

Eric studied music at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he formed lasting bonds with his brothers of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Sigma Omega chapter), whom he was very fond of. He was also an active member of the Dallas Turtle Creek Chorale, where he found both purpose and community. He was known for his strong opinions, quick wit, dry humor, and a depth of knowledge that spanned countless subjects. Eric never hesitated to speak his mind and left an impression wherever he went.

He valued connection deeply and built a chosen family who stood beside him through life. He is lovingly remembered by Yani Diaz Bennett (spouse, Bobbie Bennett), Caleb Hurst (spouse, Alondra), Jon-Michael Hurst (fiancée, Karina), Esther Group, and Ronnie Hurst (fiancée Crystal) who became his family in every way that mattered. He will also be remembered by extended family, including his Uncle George, Aunt Sherri, cousins, and his nieces, whom he loved from afar, as well as his loyal companion, Thor, who was always by his side.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Sheila and Palmer Ramsey, and his favorite friends, Bear and Baloo. 

In a final act of generosity, Eric chose to donate his body to science, hoping to contribute to the learning and advancement of others.

He will be remembered for his voice, his presence, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.
