Enna's obituary

Enna Reese Macklin was born in Chicago, IL. on September 25, 1951. She was the oldest of three children born to Ulysses and Almeada Crockett. At the age of 9, her mother passed away, leaving Enna to assist in raising her two younger brothers, Ulysses and Davy. Enna was introduced to God at an early age and was a member of Southwest Missionary Baptist Church.

Enna received her primary education from St. Carthage Catholic School and graduated from Simeon Vocational High School. In 1964, at the age of 13, she met the love of her life, Darnell "Donnie" Macklin. Donnie and Enna married in 1975, and their union produced their two children: Fatimah "Timah" Macklin and Yamile "Mil" Macklin.

While working and raising a family, Enna sought to further her education by attending Roosevelt University. After 27 years of faithful service, Enna retired from Illinois Bell (AT&T) in 2006. After retirement, Enna enjoyed relaxing and spending time with her family. Her favorite pastime was watching her court and reality tv shows.

Over the years, Enna opened her home to many of her children’s friends and even some of her family. She became a mother figure to everyone that she encountered. Having family around fulfilled her. Later in life, Enna learned that she had an older brother named Jim and was elated to meet him and his children.

Enna had a smile that could light up a room. That, along with her great personality, attracted people to her, which made her happy. But her happiest moment was when she and Darnell recently relocated from Chicago, IL. to Dallas, Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

On January 11, 2023, Enna received her wings and was called back home to Christ to join her mother Almeada Crockett, her brother Davy Crockett, and her father Ulysses Crockett.

Enna is survived by her spouse of 48 years, Darnell; her children, Fatimah and Yamile (Jillian); four grandchildren, Kennedy Rae, Kody Ryan, Kali McKenzie, and her grandson on the way; two brothers, Ulysses (Alesia) and Jim; plus countless cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and a host of adopted sons and daughters.
