Emmanuel's obituary

  • The Life and Legacy of Mr Emmanuel Onyeogara Onuba

Emmanuel Onyeogara Onuba was born on December 8, 1942, in Amaoba-Ime, Oboro, Abia State. From humble beginnings, he grew into a dedicated educator, community leader, and mentor whose life was defined by resilience, discipline, and service.

He began his education at Methodist Central School, Ndoro, and later attended Methodist Secondary School, Uzuakoli. His determination led him to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he earned a B.Sc. in Zoology in 1974, and later a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1991—proving his lifelong commitment to learning.

His teaching career started at Community Secondary School, Owerinta, before he moved to Kaduna Teachers’ College, where he served in various leadership roles, shaping students academically and morally. In 1983, he joined Federal Government College, Kaduna, where he held numerous positions including Head of Departments, Housemaster, Vice Principal, Acting Principal, and later Assistant Director of Education. He became known not only as an excellent teacher but as a disciplined leader who molded many young minds into people of good character.

Beyond the classroom, he was a devoted community leader, serving in various associations that promoted unity, education, and youth development. He also attended numerous workshops and conferences, always striving to improve education and inspire others.

A devoted Christian, loving husband, and proud father, Emmanuel Onyeogara Onuba lived a life of purpose. He did not just teach—he transformed lives, built communities, and inspired generations.

His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched.

Rest in perfect peace — teacher of teachers, father of many, and a true legend.
