Liz's obituary
Emma Elizabeth Corwin (Liz) was born in Edmond, Oklahoma on April 8, 1935 to James Thomas Hudman, Jr. and Emma Diamond Nix Hudman. She died peacefully in her home on Easter Sunday April 9, 2023. She spent her childhood in Oklahoma City at the Baptist Children’s Home and graduated from John Marshall High School.
She attended Oklahoma Baptist University where she was a cheerleader who caught the eye of William “Bill” Corwin whom she married in 1954. Shortly thereafter they began their life together as pastor and wife at First Baptist Church Mounds (Oklahoma) and then Hillcrest Park Baptist Church (Arlington, Texas). In 1967, Liz and Bill were appointed missionaries of the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. After serving 31 years in Indonesia and Singapore, they retired in 1998 to the DFW area.
Liz loved people, serving as “Aunt Liz” at the hostel, training children’s workers, teaching her women’s Sunday school class, teaching citizenship to immigrants, hosting family and friends, and watching the Mavericks and the Rangers.
She is preceded in death by William (Bill) Corwin (d. 2006) with whom she was married for 52 years, and survived by three children: Scott and his wife Laurie, of Gams, Switzerland; Kerri Guisness and her husband Gary, of Corona Del Mar, CA, and Kelly Prindle and her husband Bruce of Midlothian, Texas. She leaves four grandchildren: Katie Fox, Taylor Record, David Prindle, and Brady Prindle, as well as four great-grandchildren.
