Emilio's obituary
Union City, NJ – Emilio Iglesias, passed away peacefully
with his wife and daughter by his side in North Bergen on
July 9, 2022. He had the good fortune to live a full life
before succumbing to the effects of COPD and heart disease.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 63 years, Laura,
aka "Tina" his two daughters, Maria Iglesias, Yara Betancourt,
and his granddaughters, Christina, Cassandra, and Amanda.
He also, has a 5 months old great-granddaughter, Selina.
He was predeceased by his mother, Eudosia Gonzalez
and father, Luis Iglesias and his brothers, Bernardo
Iglesias and Issaic Iglesias. Emilio was born in
Havana, Cuba on November 24,1933. His profession
was a photographer until he emigrated to the US in
1969 becoming a proud citizen in 1977. Worked his
way out of the factories into his owning his own Billiard Pool
Hall in Union City. He worked his last few years before retiring
for the Union City School District.
He was passionate about his political views
his love for this country and the once Cuba that he
loved so dearly. He always said Freedom is worth
fighting for. Freedom is worth living for and dying for.
He had the “gift of gab” and never shy to offer his opinion.
Emilio loved baseball, game shows, lottery tickets and spending
time at the Cuban Restrauant, El Artesano. He loved a good
round of dominos at the Jose Marti Park but most of all his loved
just being with his beloved wife, Tina.
There will be a funeral service held at Morgado
Funeral Home at 525 45 th Street Union City, NJ on
Monday, July 11, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In
lieu of flowers, you can make a donations to the
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or American Heart Association
