Earth day was Emerson’s favor…
Earth day was Emerson’s favorite day cause he enjoyed camping and planting trees and also pulling up weeds in playgrounds. His favorite thing was telling us not to flush trash into 🚽 toilets and hurting turtles and seals. And he always showed us the nicknacks he got from the fairs.

Year of the horse 🐎 Emerson always wanted to know if we could make Chinese New Years pastries and we made it every year. Made a lot and wish Emerson, you were here to lend a helping tummy. Maybe we will share it with veterans. We believe there are hungry Chinese New Year pastry eaters.

Chinese New Year 🧧 Emerson wo…
Chinese New Year 🧧 Emerson would enjoy hunting for the wealth god to get red envelope on Feb 17  from 12:00-3:00pm after we had fire works on Jackson street from 6:00-8:00pm. They had boba drink coupons, $3 and cafe food vouchers to local places Emerson would run around and say the right words. Happy Chinese New Year red envelope please, $1, I want, can I have more! He always made up his own Chinese couplets and laugh.

Christmas time upon us support the skating rink, enjoy chats with family and kids and showing people Emerson can still balance and move on ice. We kept thinking he’d fall but he skated slow and steady that’s our Emerson. Silliest show off then we’d eat a treat from cheese cake factory, lactose intolerant, never took the lactose pill, that meant little farts as he skated makes us laugh thinking about Emerson living in the holiday moment so silly not skipping a skate.

During the winter months Emerson would do tabling to teach little kids to be careful of candles being too close to wreaths and holly and garlands.
Veterans Day was a quiet walk at the national cemetery with Emerson to each headstone to say "Thank you for serving as your families served along side you supporting you.”-Emerson Chin

Every Veterans Day parade as Emerson collected money and handed buddy poppy: We going to celebrate the end of World War II and remember in every war a veteran served and their family served along their side supporting them and missing them until they returned and we now give poppy’s out remembering his words.

It’s Halloween time, Dog and people Halloween party. Yes. Made some art, made some fun, made nice photos. Ate some candy and enjoyed dog fun. Emerson always wanted us to do dog block party events with him. He loved doggie events and would drag us. He loved German Shepard’s.

Emerson went to New York after 9/11 to help and he had very bad breathing issues cause of the dust. We never forget Emerson who always showed up and said, “I’m here what can I do to help."

June 25-27 was special to Emerson one year he told us to meet him at the Korean War Memorial. When we got there, he told us to look for the Wally brick, something happened. We looked and found it. Then we saw Wally Levine. He said, “Why you so sad?” Emerson hugged him. “We thought something happened to you.” He was sick for a time, no he didn’t die, he bought a brick to honor those who sacrificed to bring freedom to Korea and end the “forgotten war.” We all hugged Wally and he laughed at Emerson and us, “you guys care about me.”

250 years old army. Wow. Emerson would have enjoyed this moment with us He would have worn his battle fatigue. He would wear his camouflage jacket and he’d wear his security guard shoes:special shoes with rubber soles. He would Carry his army grade back pack which was always 35 lbs. Why? He said he always had to be ready in case he had a military event to go to.
Every year Emerson would take…
Every year Emerson would take us to the plaque at St. Mary’s Square. He told us many Chinese who fought in the World War I and II were forgotten until Chinese fought for recognition that they too played a big part and served honorably—Emerson Chin. Now as you gaze upon the photo the members of post 384 and the VFW from post 4618 commemorate the fallen Chinese. The numbers are smaller but the shadows of all those who fought grow as we also remember members in modern times that served and are now in everlasting and at peace.
