Dearest Mark, Cécile, Sam, and Juju,

Em’s death brings such crushing sadness. Our daughters became fast friends shortly after you moved to Carlisle, and Hattie (Harriet) spent many happy hours in your household. Em was a unique individual. Even at that young age, it was clear that they had great wisdom and insight. They were a true and honest friend, trustworthy, thoughtful, and a good listener. They had a great laugh. Em and Hattie were in two Savoyard Light Opera Company productions together – Pirates of Penzance and The Music Man. I loved listening to their conversations in the car on the way to and from rehearsals when they were too young to drive themselves. I always looked forward to seeing Em. To be honest, of all Hattie’s friends, I think Em was my favorite. I am grateful that my daughter had a person like your daughter in her life. With deepest sympathy, Anne (& Richard) Ketchen
